The THS Soccer Dogs lost to Grovetown on Friday, 2-1.

Thomson took an early lead. With 31:46 remaining in the first half, Marquis Cook received a penalty kick that he promptly put into the back of the net to put Thomson ahead 1-0.

Thomson held that lead until the 18:10 mark, when Grovetown scored. The score remained tied at the half-time break.

Grovetown took the lead early in the second half, putting the ball into the net at the 37:58 mark. Neither team generated another goal, and the score stood at 2-1 in Grovetown’s favor at the end of regulation play.

The loss means Thomson must win out their remaining two region games to go into the playoffs as a fourth seed.

Grovetown scored early, putting the ball into the net about five minutes into the game. Thomson soon responded when Anna Carrington got a shot past the Grovetown goalie.

The score remained tied at 1 until late in the first half. With 13 minutes remaining, Carrington got her second goal.

Carrington appeared to have a hat trick for the night, but an apparent goal in the first half was taken away on an offsides call.

Thomson held a 2-1 lead until the final minutes of the first half, when Grovetown scored two quick goals.

The score stood at 3-2 at the half-time break. Neither team was able to generate a goal in the second half, and Grovetown claimed the win.

The Lady Dogs’ next scheduled game is at home vs. Lincoln County on April 19. Game time is 7 p.m.
