RALEY DEASON
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Brassell Raley Deason ,79, of Milledgeville, who passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mosleyville Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Adams officiating. Interment followed in Mout Nebo Cemetery in Wilkinson County.
Mrs. Deason was a native of Glascock County and had made her home in Baldwin County for most of her life. She was the first female postmaster at Hardwick Post office, and was a member of the Postmasters Union. She was a member of Mosleyville Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She loved to take care of her family, cooking, farming, taking care of her pets and singing with the Sweet Adelines.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Deason; son, Marion Thomas Raley of Milledgeville; daughters, Gloria (David) Newsome of Milledgeville, Susan (Bill) Fisher of Otto, N.C., and Paula Deason Russ of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Lyra Newsome, Lily Kate Russ, Jonathan Sikking, Chris McKearney, all of Milledgeville, Matthew Sikking of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Ruby West of Sweetwater, Tenn.; sisters, Ruby Williford of Gibson and Edna Dixon of Avera; brother, George “Red” Brassell of Thomson.
Flowers were accepted or expressions of sympathy to Mosleyville Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Milledgeville was in charge of arrangements.
MRS. ESSIE WHITEHEAD KITCHENS
GIBSON, Ga. — Mrs. Essie Whitehead Kitchens, 64, of Gibson, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at her residence.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, in the Gibson First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Kitchens officiating. Burial followed in the Gibson First Baptist cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Wood, Ronnie Wood, Mike Kitchens, David Kitchens, Richard Kitchens and Anthony English.
A native of Mitchell, a daughter of the late Lee and Lou Estell Whitehead, Mrs. Kitchens was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Kitchens was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, William Whitehead and Joe Whitehead and is survived by beloved husband, Chester Kitchens of Gibson; daughter, Lora Stewart and her husband Jackie of Gibson; sons, Chester Kitchens Jr. of Gibson and Kenneth Kitchens of Aiken, S.C.; sisters, Rubye English of Augusta, and Katheleen Bales of Thomson; one grandson, Donavon Stewart; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

MR. OTIS SHEPPARD
THOMSON —The blessed life of Mr. Otis Sheppard, of Thomson, entered into rest on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The funeral service was held 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at New Saints C.M.E. Church in Washington, with the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Henderson, pastor, officiating.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MR. HOEY “HANK” MILLER SNYDER
THOMSON — Mr. Hoey “Hank” Miller Snyder, 85, entered into rest March 14, 2012.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill South officiating. Interment followed at Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Snyder was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and lived in Thomson since 1981. He was a World War II pilot, a carpenter, and a loving husband and father.
Survivors include: stepdaughters, Pat Norris, Opal Plyler, Goldie Evans and Teresa Jackson; stepsons, Jimmy Bracewell, Danny Bracewell and Ray Bracewell. Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
