Norris students compete in state, national NewzBrain

Congratulations to Norris Elementary School’s fourth- and fifth-grade NewzBrain Monthly Challenge winners.

Fourth- and fifth-grade QUEST pupils participated in the state and national NewzBrain Challenge in February. The fifth-grade team – “Oxymorons” – was made up of the following pupils: Zeke Brown, Zach Bennett, Cody Alleva and Kevin Jones. They finished first out of 34 teams in Georgia and tied for 10th out of 146 teams that competed nationally.

Team “CAM” tied for 10th place in the state and 24th in the nation. Team members are Cambrey Chatham, Aaron Hayes and Mitchell McCarty.

The NewzBrain Challenge is a 50-multiple choice question exam that tests pupils on news events that occurred in January. The educational goals of the NewzBrain are increased global awareness, enhanced geography skills, cooperative learning and study skills.

The teacher/facilitator for the team is Khrista Henry.
