To the editor:
The McDuffie Department of Juvenile Justice office is pleased to announce our participation in the 2012 National Crime Victims’ Week events from April 22-28.
This year’s theme, Extending the Vision: Reaching Every Victim, captures the common goal of reaching each victim in need of hope and help – one victim at a time.
Our primary target for this campaign is the prevention of domestic violence among teenagers and young adults. The activities planned during the week will focus on safety in relationships and help parents, families and communities to recognize the signs and dangers of youth domestic violence.
We are planning a Communitywide Victim’s Rights Rally at Thomson High School. The event is tentatively scheduled for April 28.
In order to support crime victims, The McDuffie Court Services Office of The Department of Juvenile Justice will begin collecting toiletry items to be donated to local domestic violence shelters. We will collect these items throughout February at our office at 300 Ansley Drive, Thomson.
Please feel free to collect items at your churches and businesses and our staff will gladly schedule a time to pick them up.
We appreciate all of your support and thank you for your donations. More information on events will be provided at a later date.
