THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral service for Mrs. Emma Beard, age 94, was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Mt Carmel Baptist Church Appling, Ga. with the Rev. R. Perry, Pastor and burial wasin the church cemetery.

MR. JOE ARTICE BRASSE
GIBSON, Ga. - Mr. Joe Artice Brassell age 80 of Gibson, died Friday, March 9, 2012, in the University Hospital in Augusta. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Sunday in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery in Mitchell with the Rev. Bill Seaman officiating.
A native of Glascock County, Mr. Brassell was a son of the late Fred and Lois Snider Brassell. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a self employed pool builder and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Mr. Brassell is survived by companion Betty Chalker of Gibson; daughters, Kay Hotchkiss of Alabaster Ala., Beverly Beavers of Harpersville Ala., Roseann Cabaniss Helena Ala., Peggy Hoeferlin of Greenville S.C.., Cynthia Powell of Pellham AL.; brother, George (Red) Brassell of Thomson; sisters, Vera Deason of Milledgeville, Edna Dixon of Avera, and Ruby Williford of Gibson, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

MR. KEVIN LEE CRAFT
DEARING, Ga. – Mr. Kevin Lee Craft, 37, entered into rest Saturday, March 3, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in the South Harlem Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Biddy officiating.
Mr. Craft was a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a resident of Dearing. He was an avid Nascar fan.
Mr. Craft is survived by two sons, Camden (mother, Kylie) and Conner Craft of Martinez and one daughter, Karson (mother, Kylie) Craft of Martinez; his mother, Marilyn Elaine McGuire, Dearing and his father, Marvin Donald Craft of Harlem.

MR. LONNIE BOYD GAY
STAPLETON, Ga. - Mr. Lonnie Boyd Gay, 78 of Stapleton, entered into rest March 10, 2012.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at the May Family Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating.
Mr. Gay was a native of Stapleton, and was the son of the late Lonnie M. Gay and the late Lommie McTier Gay. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired as a carpenter from Plant Vogle. Mr. Gay was also an accomplished bluegrass musician and traveled with the gospel group Frankie Moore and the Carolina Hymn Singers. He was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his son, Gregory Freeman Gay, Thomson; daughter, Angela Panzella and husband, Greg, Martinez; brother, John R. Gay, Indiana; sister, Shirley G. May and husband, Leon, Thomson; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Gay was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Gay Beerbohm and a sister, Vera M. Gay.

THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral service for Mr. William Theodis Hobbs Sr., 88, of Thomson, was held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Aldred C.M.E. Church, Warrenton, with Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Willie J. Wiley, eulogist, and Elder David McCord, presiding. Interment was in Poplar Head Baptist Church Cemetery, Dearing.

MR. FAY HARRIS HUNT
THOMSON, Ga. Mr. Fay Harris Hunt, 81, husband of Mrs. Jane Johnson Hunt and father of Barry Hunt, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Macedonia United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Sisler officiating. Interment was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson.
Mr. Fay was born in McDuffie County to the late Brian Hunt and Marah Lazenby Hunt. He was an Army National Guard veteran and for many years worked with BP Oil in Thomson. He was retired from the Warrenton Housing Authority. Mr. Fay was a 40 year member of the Thomson Lions Club and a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. He was a good husband, father and a faithful friend. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam Hunt Edmonds and Martha Jo Hunt Herringdine.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Marsh, Clay Marsh, Ron Hubert, Judson Lazenby, Howard Hunt, Jr., and Darien Herringdine.

THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral service for Mr. Johnny Mance Jr., 75 of Thomson, was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Thomson, with Pastor, the Rev. Rodney Lockett, eulogist, and Apostle Marion Hill, Presiding. Interment: Church Cemetery.

MRS. BARBARA DELL POSTON
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Barbara Dell Poston, 56, of Thomson, entered into rest March 9, 2012, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of Cliff Poston.
Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012, from the First Baptist Church, Thomson with Dr. James C. Elder, Jr. and Dr. Leonard Dupree officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Tate Reddick, Jay Poston, Mark Jenkins, Tommy Dudley, Mike Dudley, Sam Roche, and Jad Dean.
Mrs. Poston was born in Ft. Valley, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Harry Reddick and the late Maedelle Morgan Reddick. She was a 1973 graduate of Peach County High School and a 1977 graduate of the University of Georgia with a BA in Journalism. Mrs. Poston taught ninth grade World Geography at Thomson High School and retired from the McDuffie County Board of Education with over 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Thomson where she had been active in teaching Girls in Action (GA’s) for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Cliff Poston; sons, Cully Poston, Cleve Poston and wife, Megan and daughter, Hanna Poston, all of Thomson; sisters, Cissie O’Connell and husband, Dan of Spartanburg, S.C., Ginny Roche and husband, Bob of Savannah, Ga.; step-mother, Marie Reddick of Ft. Valley, Ga.; mother-in-law, Vonnie Poston of Thomson; sisters-in-law, Becky Reddick of Ft. Valley, Ga. and Jane Dean and husband, Jeff of Greenwood, S.C. and caregivers, Mary Hall and Marion Reese.
Mrs. Poston was preceded in death by her brother, Buddy Reddick.

MR. MARVIN BOZEMAN
THOMSON, Ga. – Mr. Marvin Bozeman 73, of Thomson ntered into rest Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was the husband of Mrs. Betty R. Bozeman.
Mr. Bozeman was a native of Jupiter, Fla., but has lived in Thomson for the last few years where he enjoyed farming and supporting the Belle Meade Hunt. He retired as a fire fighter from the Palm Beach County Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was a master carpenter and loved the outdoors.
Family members in addition to his wife include: daughters: Belinda K. Heisler (Mike), Benita Rippeon (Bill), Shelah Crowley (John), Tracy Eichel (Burton); son: Allen Bozeman; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Jupiter, Fla..
