EVANS - Mr. Otis L. Crowell, 76, entered into rest on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at University Hospital.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Pinson officiating. Burial followed at Westover Memorial Park.

Otis spent the majority of his career in real estate sales and development. He founded Crowell and Co. Real Estate in 1968. He served the real estate community as president of the Local Association of Realtors, president of the Georgia Association of Realtors, vice president of the National Association of Realtors, member of the Omega Tau Rho society of the National Association Realtors, as well as long-term director of the National Association of Realtors.

Otis’ civic service included president of the Augusta YMCA, involvement with the Augusta Futurity, an active AMBUCS member, member of the University of Georgia Presidents Club, and service to many other charitable organizations in the community. Otis was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed bike riding and other outdoor sports.

Mr. Crowell is survived by his wife, Linda, of Martinez; his sons, O. Lamar Crowell Jr., and wife Wendy of Martinez and John W. Crowell and wife, Meredith of Evans; his daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Crowell Hessey and husband, Randy of Corinth, Texas; a sister, Rachel Crowell Whitaker of Thomson; his grandchildren, Travis William Crowell and William Hayes Crowell; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Nell Crowell.

Pallbearers were Dr. Lee Fullerton, Alan Morris, Don Ball, Ron Cross, Peyton Gill, and E.G. Meybohm. Honorary pallbearers were The Augusta Board of Realtors and The Super Seniors of the CSRA Tennis League.

The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for him: Dr. Lee Fullerton, Dr. M. Sridaran, Dr. Mark Keaton, Dr. William Callaghan, Dr. Charles McClure, Dr. George Pursley, and Dr. Robert Shay.

WARRENTON - Mrs. Fannie B. Johnson, age 95, of Mt. Beulah Church Road, died Friday Dec. 9, 2011, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Sutphin and the Rev. Roy Frierson officiating. Burial followed in the Zora United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Norris, Wayne Norris, Bobby Mauck, Bob Brooks, Bill Langham and Jimmy Richardson.

A native of Gibson, Mrs. Johnson had retired from Thomson Company and was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Johnson, daughter Geraldine Thigpen, granddaughter, Bonnie Brooks, and is survived by grandson, Bobby Pilcher Thigpen, great-grandchildren; Lacey Brooks, Ryan Brooks, Nicki Thigpen, Ginny Tuberville, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Candice Delaine McDonald, 21, of 618 Sandshore Drive, Greenwood, S.C., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Charles Kennedy “Ken” McDonald Jr. and Renita Bullock Coleman. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Piedmont Technical College. She was formerly employed at Tropical Tan and attended North Side Baptist Church.

Candice was preceded in death by a brother, Charles K. “Tripp” McDonald III; her maternal grandfather, Charles Kenneth Bullock, and her paternal grandmother, Maxine Balchin McDonald.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Renita and Steve Coleman of Greenwood; her father and stepmother, Ken and Tami McDonald of Greenwood; paternal grandparents, Charles K. McDonald Sr. and Harriet McDonald of Greenwood; maternal grandmother, Patricia King; paternal step-grandparents, Agnes and Ron Wray; brothers, Bryson Lee McDonald and Steven Coleman Jr.; sisters, Morgan McDonald, April (Scott) Coleman Skidmore and Kristen Coleman Jordan, all of Greenwood; and foster grandmother, Barbara Williams of Hickory Tavern, S.C.

Services were held Monday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with the Rev. Jeff Lethco officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

THOMSON - Funeral service for Mrs. Rosia Lean Baker Reese, 94, of Thomson, was held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at 2 p.m., at St. John A.M.E. Church, Norwood, Pastor, the Rev. Johnnie Hunter, Eulogist. Interment: Westview Cemetery, Thomson. Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

THOMSON - Funeral service for Mrs. Mackie Lee Bentley Turman, 87, of Thomson, was held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson. Interment was in the Westview Cemetery, Thomson.
