Young Harris College sophomore outdoor leadership major Elizabeth Land, trumpet, of Thomson, will perform at a concert featuring the Young Harris College Concert Band on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium on the Young Harris College campus. Land is a graduate of Thomson High School.
Directed by YHC Senior Instructor of Music and Director of Bands Mary Land, the 52-member YHC Concert Band will perform classics from the wind band repertoire including Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Norman Dello Joio’s Scenes from the Louvre. The program also includes Percy Grainger’s famous Irish Tune from County Derry and the exotic programmatic work Arabesque by Sam Hazo.
“The music being performed at this concert represents some of the highest quality musical repertoire written specifically for wind band,” Land said. “This concert will also showcase some of our outstanding YHC music faculty that will be featured as guest soloists with the band.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Young Harris College Division of Fine Arts at (706) 379-5182.
