A Tignall woman paid for a mobile home she never received.
According to a sheriff’s report, the victim told police she met a man at Long John Silver on Washington Road in Thomson on May 20, 2011, and paid him $19,900 for a mobile home, which was to be delivered to her property in Wilkes County. At the moment of purchase, the mobile home was in Richmond County and was to be delivered within a couple of weeks.
She repeatedly contacted the owner and told police she was given excuse after excuse as to why the mobile home could not be delivered.
Her last phone attempt was on Feb. 7, 2012, and the next day the owner’s phone was disconnected, she said. The victim was able to obtain an address and sent the owner a certified letter, but as of March 15 still had not received a response.
The incident is still under investigation. No arrests have been made.
