Firefighters train for certification

Firefighters from Thomson, Warrenton and Harlem took a National Professional Qualifications 1 class at the Thomson fire training facility Saturday.

The training is required for a firefighter to become certified.

Firefighters who attended practiced the proper way to handle tools, how to enter a burning building, how to climb and lock themselves onto a ladder, and how to deploy a roof ladder.

Class attendees will take a final test in June.
