About 25 retired educators from McDuffie, Warren and Glascock counties heard appreciation and encouragement from Kate Finch, the state president of the Georgia Retired Educators Association.
Finch, of Taliaferro County, addressed the Tri-County Retired Educators Association, meeting at the Spirit Aviation building at Thomson-McDuffie Regional Airport.
Finch said teachers’ retirement checks are an important part of the local economies. She said Glascock County has 32 retirees, Warren County has 60, and McDuffie County has 255 retirees, whose checks add $9,139,463 to the McDuffie County economy.
Geraldine Reid is the president of the local association.
