The McDuffie County Hospital Board voted Thursday to hire Sandra I. McVicker, an employee of University Hospital, as administrator of McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
The board has entered into an agreement to sell the hospital to University.
Hospital board chairman William Doupé’s successful motion to hire McVicker makes the appointment effective when the notice of intent to sell the hospital is filed with the Georgia Attorney General’s Office. Officials said they expect that notice to be filed this month.
The notice also calls for McVicker to retain the office until the transaction is final.
Former hospital administrator Doug Keir began his duties of director of planning with University effective Jan. 1.
Thursday’s special called session was limited to that one agenda item. The board’s next regular meeting date is Monday, Jan. 23.
