The Thomson Fire Department responded to a call at 713 Matthews St. at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 15.
Upon arrival, personnel found that the occupants were already out of the house and that light smoke was visible.
The homeowner told the responders that he was cooking with oil, which caught fire on top of the stove. He grabbed the pan and took it outside to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported, and the fire caused minimal damage.
