AMNESTY DAY

DETAILS: Residential trash is free this day. Commercial will be charged normal Saturday rates. They accept household waste, yard waste, scrap metal, any batteries, construction debris, almost anything. They do not accept tires, automobiles, biomedical waste, asbestos siding (or asbestos period), mobile homes, waste oil or paint. Call (706) 595-2374. Please cover and secure your loads when enroute to the transfer station. Please bring help to unload. They will assist when possible.
CONCERT ON THE LAWN

DETAILS: Thomson McDuffie Middle School and Thomson High School bands invite the public to an evening of music and fun. Bring a blanket or chair. Tickets for barbecue dinner on sale from a local band student or school office. Barbecue plate includes sandwich, coleslaw, chips and dessert for only $6. Dinner will be served from 6-7:30 p.m. Enjoy on the lawn or pickup.

VICTIM’S RIGHTS RALLY
WHERE: Thomson McDuffie Middle School
WHEN: 11 a.m. April 28
DETAILS: The McDuffie Office of the Department of Juvenile Justice has partnered with Safehomes of Augusta to collect toiletries for victims of domestic violence that will be donated during this rally. Many businesses, government leaders, churches, organizations, and schools are participating. There will be workshops for teen males, teen females and adults (parents) designed to improve awareness of domestic violence among teens and families as well as other violent crimes. There will be booths set up with useful information. A free spaghetti supper and victim’s memorial honoring teen victim Shakira Hudson will be held at the end of the rally.

DETAILS: Camp activities are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Early drop off at 7 a.m. and late pick up at 6 p.m. is available at no additional cost. Discount for additional siblings. RAFFLE FOR 2 ATLANTA BRAVES TICKETS

DETAILS: Temple-Inland, a business of International Paper, will be holding a drawing for two Atlanta Braves tickets for the May 26 game against Washington nationals. The seats are located in section 119L in Row 16 (lower section on the first base side). Tickets are $5 each. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the McDuffie County Relay for Life. Drawing will be held at the Temple-Inland tent, located at the high school track. You do not have to be present to win. Raffle tickets may be purchased from any Temple-Inland Relay for Life team member.
