Barrel racing and Cowboy Church take turns each Sunday at the Old Frontier, south of Thomson.

The Old Frontier Saddle Club began in January 2011 after a conversation between Chris Smith of Old Frontier and local barrel racers David and Lynn Umberger.

The goal was to give local horse enthusiasts a place to come with their families and enjoy some fellowship and fun with their horses. The saddle club holds horse shows at 1 p.m. on first Saturdays. There is no admission charge for spectators. A concession stand is available on the grounds. A $30 family membership covers the whole season, from October through June. The entry fee is $5 per event.

Horse and rider take part in Texas barrels, cloverleaf barrels, pole bending and the arena race. The program accommodates all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned riders who have competed at the national level.

Cowboy Church begins at 11 a.m. each show day.
