17 compete for pageant crown

The 2012 Thomson High School Beauty Pageant begins at 7 p.m. Saturday in the school auditorium. Tickets are $6 at the door, but contestants are selling tickets for $5 until Friday.

The boys’ “drag” beauty pageant is at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $4 at the door. The girls are competing for the title of Miss Thomson High School.

Judges also will select a runner-up, second runner-up, Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic. Miss THS Eyes will be chosen by the student body. There also will be a People’s Choice award.

Judging will be done by three former professional beauty pageant winners.

Girls will be judged on a presubmitted essay, poise, character and public speaking. Dress categories for the pageant are sportswear and formal/evening gown.
