Benefit raises money to aid child with medical problems

On Sunday, a benefit was held at the Thomson Depot for Kamarion A. Kemp, a 2-year-old who suffers from a variety of chronic ailments.

Kamarion suffers from congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and other illnesses that affect his heart, lungs and eyes.

He had open heart surgery in September to repair the valves of his heart and has spent more than a year of his life in and out of the hospital.

Kemp’s family, friends and loved ones held the benefit, which included steppers, gospel groups from local churches, karaoke, face painting, food and a silent auction. All of the items up for auction were donated.

Proceeds from the benefit will be used to defray the cost of Kamarion’s medical expenses and potentially assist in purchasing a vehicle to transport him and his medical equipment to doctor’s appointments and hospital visits.

Donations for Kamarion will be accepted at First Bank of Thomson or by mailing to Kamarion Kemp c/o First Bank of Thomson, P.O. Box 1560, Thomson, Ga. 30824.
